    Charm and attraction

Sarah Howells and Richard Llewellyn in Paper Aeroplanes have released a new mini-album, "We Are Ghosts". Seven songs with so much charm and attraction that it quickly invaded my life and for once I hardly find the words to describe it.

The album starts with an ingenious two-minute track "Days We Made", so simple, but so stubbornly insistent that you don't stand a chance not to get affected. Imagine being the person who inspired these words of love... Among the best new songs I've heard for a very long time!

Then follows "Safe Hands", just as irresistible! Sarah's expressive acrobatic vocals turns dramatically and the accompaniment of guitar loops and mandolins are lifting like a kite the wind just grabbed hold of. At least as good as "Days We Made", or ...?

After that five songs with both lightness and deep, so deliciously performed it makes you wonder where they find these songs... Each one would stand out on other albums, but here they are only one of many. "My First Love" has a clear hit potential, while "Same Mistakes" and the concluding "Save It" both have a melancholy strength and frustration that is so beautiful, yet concerns properly.

"We Are Ghosts" were recorded at home in Richard's apartment in Cardiff and still the sound is exceptionally crispy in these digital times. If their first two albums (as Paper Aeroplanes) in the future won't be described as classics, masterpieces, well, that's only because they will make even better records in the future ... If it really is possible...?

The cover is decorated by Sarah Jameson's beautiful tree-drawing, be sure to check out all her drawings! So impressive it makes a tree-lover shiver all over... and her other drawings and her photographs are certainly not far behind...
